Re: Do not trade your 1st and 2nd round picks away!!!

I just think someone left the league because his team's dominance was coming to a close and he recognized it. That isn't hkpman's fault.
Tampa Bay has progressively been better every season since he took over. He overtook me this season & I think he would've overtaken GrandadB as well......IF GrandadB had stayed in Atlanta.
Does that make my original statement more clear?

Excellent summary. When the going gets tough, the tough get gone? Hkpman did not break any rules, and I was not happy reading his posts asking for Grandad to come back. I am glad we're not going down the road of reversing trades a full season after they were made, we're not a bunch of Saints fans wanting a do-over.

So, we now have a team that finished the last season at 15-1, the Bucs, who have the 1.1, 1.2, 1,12, 2.1, 2.2, and 2.5 picks in the upcoming draft. Its been a long time since Ive seen someone pull that one off, and lots of luck competing with that roster over the next several seasons. To add insult to injury, the Bucs have 3 1st rounders and 6 2nds in the 2009 draft!! Sorry, but that is ridiculous and is on a level that has not been seen before. Best of luck to you all, hkp has set a new standard for trading and acquiring high 1st & 2nd round picks in this league. I hope all the owners with .500 teams or less learn a lesson from this situation and realize that their high 1st round picks are much more valuable than a 1.30 or lower with a couple of 8 yr vets thrown in the deal. Also, realize that position rank & importance has changed quite a bit with 4.4, and will see what happens in 4.5. Used to be that one of the most important positions, if not the most, was the CB1. 4.4 changed that. Also WR has been clipped quite a bit in 4.4, and now TE1 is more important than WR1. LBs are much more important now, ones that can also cover the pass in the flats to RBs. So, I will be dropping the Ravens, its come down to having to choose between teams that have a good chance and future potential at the LC and those that dont, 12 teams are 3 too many.

I assume this is one of the reasons you left Atlanta. I saw this coming 3-4 seasons ago. I almost left when you did, GrandadB.
I hope Mcarovil is correct and Tampa Bay struggles to keep the players he's procured in a few seasons. I'm skeptical, because of how often he trades. Tampa Bay is a revolving door of talent.

So you almost left a few seasons ago, but now you have no plans to leave?

I thought about it last season. I thought about it this season. I renewed last season. I renewed this season.

I took over Carolina from WarEagle seasons ago. I joined for the opportunity to play against GrandadB twice a year & possibly in the playoffs. When he left, my reason for being here went with him.

It's difficult to stay in multiple leagues when you play a majority of the same owners in all of them. I haven't left yet. I won't leave mid-season. I won't leave without giving Gustoon or the League notice. So you have me for now. That's the best explanation I can give, I think.

I think most of this thread is silly. It is ridiculous to take personal shots at anyone. I don't trade like hpkman, no one does, but he needs to run his team the way he wants. If he ripped off owners left and right, that would be an issue, he doesn't. He is operating within the MFN rules and it doesn't matter how much anyone disagrees. If I were going to start a new league, he is the first owner I would recruit. Hpkman, keep up your trading, until MFN catches up with you, I applaud you.

This has been a good discussion and its been largely positive, everyone's opinion is valid.
People play the game they want to which is fine and, so long as no riles, either MFN or our own imposed league rules are not being broken I have no problem with it.
PLEASE don't anyone leave because of this, its not as if having a team of studs guarantees you the championship, I remember a few seasons back Sethrick won a championship with a team of Oldies and nobody's, that's the way he wants to run his team focusing on tactics rather than builds. We all have our way of playing MFN and that should be respected.

IF there are enough people that object to the way trades are being done, PLEASE PM me and I'll put it to the vote. But for now things stay the same.

edit: well that is sad the G'dad has left the league. He is welcome back anytime, he is a friend and quality owner. BUT I'm sorry this league is run by the majority for the majority.
I will say again.....If anyone wants to re-address trading then please open up a new topic/discussion and it will be addressed. This is YOUR league run by some bloke ;)

The increasing salary demands of resigning players eventually sorts out the guys who stockpile early round picks...and the increased volatility also greatly diminishes the odds of dominating through the drafts like Lellow used to do. The game has changed, and there's no guarantee that TB's strategy will lead to long-term dominance.

Not to mention that the code changes pretty frequently, and that will trash a few years worth of drafts. Power to TB for continuing to maneuver and team-build, which in my opinion is the best part about this game. And power to him if he keeps his head above water cap-wise.

Guys... i hear some of you and agree i have to trade just to keep up with salary cap plus changing code..... but lets see if i can manage it while still making fair trades as much as possible.

Commish has requested not to do anything so for now will follow the MFN and league role of no more than 3 1st round picks.

I still want to stay true to my words so will send personal msgs to the few team to give some player and picks for minimum value allowed.

Good Luck to all and let me see how i can keep building Bucs in right way

Please don't give the players back, the trades are done. Let's just go from here as is, and just play football.

This league is not broken, carry on.
