If you haven't watched it before try to watch the 30 for 30 documentary on that draft called Elway to Marino. Being born that year I never knew some of the things that happened during that draft which had so many HOF players. It was cool to hear about what the Bills thought process was on which QB they were going to draft and how they ended up with Kelly. Most of the documentary is about Elway and Marino cause they both had the same agent.

Ah right, will do thanks.

From what I can remember it was a great draft, without all the hullabaloo there is now though

First up for the Jets is the Colts, looking at their pre season, it could have been better, but as we all know preseason doesn't mean anything.
The Jets QB battle was won by Jerry Downs, purely on previous games, neither QB impressed against Detroit and put it down to 'new season nerves.
The D will be fired up as they get to grips with the new PB. The players that are on the bench are keen to get the nod, so no ones place is safe!
Prediction: home win 19-16

...........And with their first pick the Jets select Safety Erik McMillan out of University of Missouri.
At 6-2 and 197lbs coupled with decent speed and intelligence, this ballhawking FS is sure to make his mark early on in the 2001 season.

Ith the Jets 2nd round pick (2.25) The Jets select Mickey Shuler out of Penn State.

At 6-3 and 236lbs he's sure to cause trouble for DB and LBs, arguably the best TE in the draft with ultra safe hands and the courage of a Lion on amphetamine !
Shuler hit the scales at 6’3″/232 pounds on draft day, leading to him being sought in both the NFL and NBA drafts.

Shuler had a productive college career, he appeared in four bowl games and earned All American status while at Penn State.

With the 25th pick in the third round, the Jets select....
Leon Washington out of Washington State.

At 5'8 and 203lbs with blazing speed Washington is sure to light up the NFL and is also a KR / PR specialist.

In his senior year , Washington played in 11 games and started in 10, missing two games because of an ankle injury he suffered in the Maryland game. Washington became the only player in the Bobby Bowden era to score touchdowns in five different ways—by run, reception, punt return, kick off return and fumble recovery. He ranked second on the team in rushing yards (430) with a 4.4 yards per carry average, and averaged 10.7 yards per catch. He was the 10th player in FSU history in career rushing with 2,041 yards. He had a season-high 179 all-purpose yards when he rushed for 87 yards and had 92 yards receiving in the Wake Forest game, including a career-long 61-yard touchdown reception. Washington returned six punts for 51 yards and returned four kickoffs for 63 yards. He led the team in rushing in the Orange Bowl (against Penn State) with 30 yards on six carries, and added six catches for 24 yards in that game. Washington played in 43 games over his FSU career, and was named the Seminoles' most dependable running back in spring practice by the coaching staff
