I actually did that in 1 baseball league. We expanded from 10 to 12 teams and it was an existing keeper league. The established teams didn't want to start the whole league from scratch yet we couldn't have 2 new teams with zero players either.

We kept 12 players so I let everyone protect 8 each and upon losing a player, could then protect 1 additional player. No team was allowed to lose more than 2 players so the net effect was keeping 10 of the original 12.

There were complaints of course but nobody had a better solution. This would probably be a huge pain to pull off with so many teams involved, I only had 10 existing rosters to deal with.

I took a bunch of players...I was OK if anyone bid on them. It seems there were only a few people who were "up" for my suggestion.

There may have been more people up for the idea than we know. I, for one, didn't post anything about it but I had no problem if that's what we did.

The difficulty seems to be the short notice we had along with hoping everyone fell in line. Short of postponing free agency or the ability to block moves, I really don't know what could have been done.

Say 10 to 12 people abstained from FA to allow Arizona and Dallas players but the other 15-20 teams sign away? Then you have more than just 2 teams harmed as the do-gooders will see any potential players they wanted on other rosters.

Idk if it's possible in MFN or if we'd even want it but in my fantasy baseball leagues the commissioner can block teams from acquiring players with the click of a mouse. The block can be removed just as easily and would have been a good solution imo.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but maybe this could be implemented so future leagues don't have this happen to them.

Interesting ideas

Unfortunately I can't do anything like that. The only thing I can do is delay the SIM or extend/reduce the amount of FA in this respect.

I had no problem with giving those teams each a choice of player that no one else could've bid on but considering there wasn't a definitive plan made or players announced as off limits, I couldn't give up my chance to pick up any players that I wanted.

There still are some decent players on FA.
Just a thought ... Arizona and Dallas can choose and FA that they had rejected ??

On the flip side I don't want to penalise all the other teams and turn this into the No Fun League.
