The Baltimore Ravens dropped a close preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, losing 13-10 on August 31 at Tampa Bay.

The Ravens, coached by Johnny Conaway, took an early lead with a 25-yard field goal by William Silver at 7:13 of the first quarter. However, the Buccaneers quickly responded on special teams. Just moments later, Jeffery Green returned Silver's 66-yard kickoff for a 101-yard touchdown, giving Tampa Bay a 7-3 lead after Victor Shand added the extra point.

Tampa Bay extended its advantage with a 33-yard field goal by Shand late in the first quarter, leading 10-3. Baltimore's offense struggled to produce early points and committed an interception in the first quarter when quarterback Richard Dunn was picked off by Buccaneers' Derek Tucker.

In the second quarter, the Ravens mounted a late touchdown drive capped by a 3-yard run from Robert Anderson with just 51 seconds remaining before halftime. Silver’s successful extra point tied the game at 10-10 going into the locker room.

The third quarter was marked by strong defensive stands but no scoring. Notably, Buccaneers’ Greg Henderson recorded two sacks, while Baltimore registered one sack. Dunn threw another interception in the third quarter, while the Ravens’ defense forced and recovered a fumble.

In terms of offensive production, Baltimore’s Richard Dunn completed 25 of 40 passes for 201 yards, though he threw two interceptions without any touchdowns. The running game was more effective, with 113 rushing yards on 27 carries, including 50 yards and a touchdown from Robert Anderson. Wide receiver David Merritt led receiving yards for the Ravens with 71 yards.

The Buccaneers managed 83 total passing yards on 10 completions from 19 attempts and had only 3 rushing yards over 25 carries. Tampa Bay’s special teams were a highlight, with two field goals made by Shand and the game-changing kickoff return touchdown by Green. Their defense recorded four sacks, helped by Henderson’s two and a forced fumble from Jacob Hoggard.

Both teams showed solid defensive performances, but the Buccaneers capitalized on key opportunities in the kicking game and special teams to secure the narrow victory. The Ravens finished with 23 yards penalized over three penalties, while Tampa Bay had two penalties for 10 yards.

Baltimore will look to improve as the preseason wraps up, focusing on limiting turnovers and enhancing red zone efficiency ahead of the regular season. Coach Johnny Conaway’s squad showed encouraging signs in the running game but must find a more consistent passing attack to complement their ground game.
