GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers were shut out 16-0 by the visiting Detroit Lions on Monday night, dropping their record to 6-10 and extending their losing streak to five games. The Lions improved to 11-4, clinching a playoff berth with the victory.

The Lions struck quickly in the first quarter, with running back Robert White scoring a touchdown on a run from the Packers' 1-yard line just 1:39 into the game. The extra point by kicker Eugene Miller was good, putting Detroit ahead 7-0.

Detroit added three field goals, all kicked by Miller, from distances of 38, 37, and 36 yards in the first, third, and fourth quarters, respectively. These kicks extended the lead to 16-0 and accounted for all points scored beyond White's touchdown.

Green Bay's offense struggled to find momentum throughout the game. The Packers completed 24 of 39 passes for 167 yards but failed to convert any third downs or visit the red zone, ending the game without scoring. Their lone field goal attempt by Justin Haas in the second quarter was wide right from 34 yards.

The rushing attack gained 49 yards on 20 carries, with no touchdowns. Defensive pressure resulted in three sacks and forced one fumble, which was recovered twice by the Packers. Linebacker David Easterling forced a fumble, while Luis Marino recovered two for Green Bay.

Detroit's offense leaned heavily on the rush, totaling 148 yards on 36 carries. Charles Malone led the ground game with 117 rushing yards. White added 31 rushing yards along with 16 receiving yards and the only touchdown reception of the game. The Lions' defense matched Green Bay's effort with three sacks and one forced fumble.

Special teams played a notable role. Packers punter John Jacobson consistently flipped field position with several punts landing deep in Lions territory, including a 56-yard punt leading to a touchback. Despite this, Green Bay was unable to capitalize on the defensive stops and field positioning.

The Packers committed seven penalties for 65 yards, while Detroit was flagged seven times for 46 yards. Injuries were reported but not deemed severe, with Lions receiver Randy Colmenero and lineman Kennith Brown both expected to return after minor injuries.

The loss mathematically eliminates Green Bay from playoff contention. Head coach Clint Conner and the team now prepare for their final game of the season, aiming to end on a positive note after a challenging stretch.

Detroit, coached by Vincent Earle, moves forward with momentum in the postseason chase, securing their second place in the division with a strong defensive showing and timely kicking.
