New England's Matthews threw two interceptions in the game, including one at his own 47-yard line in the second quarter, but the Patriots still managed to score a short Shaun Kilpatrick rushing touchdown early in the third quarter to go ahead 21-17 after Reynolds’ kick.

Buffalo reclaimed the lead with a Pilcher 52-yard field goal just before halftime, making it 17-14. Additional scoring details indicate the Bills maintained control in the second half to finish with a 30-21 victory.

On offense, Thomas Hale completed 27 of 45 passes for 222 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The Bills rushed 18 times for 40 yards and a touchdown. Bryan Driggs led receiving with 40 yards and a touchdown.

For New England, Matthews was 24-of-38 passing for 143 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Shaun Kilpatrick rushed for 91 yards and scored once. Ralph Booker added 40 receiving yards and 1 rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Buffalo forced three fumbles, recovered three, and recorded 2 interceptions. New England forced one fumble and had 2 interceptions but could not capitalize sufficiently.

The Patriots remain atop the division with a 12-3 record and a 3-1 division slate, having clinched their division but now on a two-game losing streak. Buffalo holds a 7-7 record with a 2-4 division mark and improved to 4th place in the division standings.

Penalties were somewhat balanced with Buffalo committing six for 35 yards and New England four for 33 yards. Neither team converted on third downs during the game.
