The Baltimore Ravens recorded a dominant 42-0 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday at Lincoln Financial Field, improving to 2-0 on the season. Under coach Johnny Conaway, the Ravens' balanced offense and staunch defense controlled the game from start to finish, handing the Eagles their second consecutive loss.
Baltimore opened the scoring late in the first quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Richard Dunn to Richard Bennett. The successful extra point by William Silver gave the Ravens a 7-0 lead. Early in the second quarter, Johnathan Yang surged 54 yards into the end zone to extend the lead to 14-0, with Silver again converting the extra point.
The Ravens continued their dominance with Bennett scoring again on a 7-yard run midway through the second quarter. Silver's third extra point pushed the advantage to 21-0 at halftime. The Eagles managed only 99 passing yards and 34 rushing yards in the first half, unable to penetrate Baltimore's defense.
Philadelphia’s lone field goal attempt in the second quarter was unsuccessful, missing wide right from 45 yards. The Eagles were held scoreless despite 18 passing attempts and a handful of promising punt returns.
In the third quarter, the Ravens added two more touchdowns to their tally. Dunn connected with Johnathan Yang on a short pass near the goal line for the fourth touchdown, capping a rushing yardage total of 362 yards for the team. Yang ended the game with 155 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. Dallas Chambers also contributed heavily on the ground with 149 rushing yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Defensively, Baltimore recorded one sack and forced no turnovers, but limited the Eagles to just 9 points through two games and a 0-2 record. Philadelphia’s offense was stifled, going 0-for-0 on third down conversions and committing a key penalty in the third quarter.
The Ravens controlled the clock with 57 rushing attempts compared to Philadelphia’s 16. Coach Johnny Conaway’s squad has now outscored opponents 69-7 through two games and will look to carry momentum into their upcoming matchups.
The Eagles remain winless and have allowed 80 points in the first two weeks of the regular season. They will need to find solutions quickly to turn their season around. Meanwhile, Baltimore's comprehensive victory highlights their potential as early contenders despite their current divisional standing at second place.
