The Green Bay Packers closed out their 2047 regular season with a 17-10 road loss to the Minnesota Vikings on December 22. The defeat hands the Packers their 11th loss of the season, extending their losing streak to one and sealing their elimination from playoff contention. Minnesota, led by head coach Christopher Parker, improved to 12-4 and clinched a playoff berth with the victory.

The Vikings opened the scoring early in the second quarter when quarterback Jean Martin connected with Corey Fox on a short 1-yard touchdown pass. Fox’s agility got him free from coverage for the score, putting Minnesota up 7-0 after Leroy Carolan’s extra point. The play also involved an injury to Walter Evans, who appeared able to return.

The Packers responded late in the second quarter with a 26-yard field goal by kicker Eugene Miller, cutting the deficit to 7-3. However, Green Bay’s offensive rhythm was disrupted by a key fumble recovered by Minnesota’s Timothy Cleveland.

Minnesota extended their lead with a 55-yard field goal by Carolan early in the third quarter, increasing their advantage to 10-3. The Vikings’ ground game, spearheaded by John McClain, was a key factor throughout the contest. McClain rushed for 73 yards and scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter, helping to build a 17-3 lead.

The Packers managed to narrow the margin when quarterback William McCarthy found tight end Olen Nelson for a 2-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Eugene Miller’s extra point was good, making the score 17-10. Despite several turnovers in the final minutes, including multiple interceptions thrown by McCarthy, Green Bay could not mount a comeback.

Defensively, the Packers recorded two interceptions, one by Jeff Kennedy and one by Larry Pollack, but these turnovers did not translate into sufficient points. The Packers finished with 179 passing yards and 74 rushing yards, while Minnesota amassed 146 passing yards and 158 rushing yards.

Minnesota's defense was strong, contributing two sacks by Emanuel Gibson and a forced fumble by Albert Diaz. The Vikings converted four of eleven third-down attempts compared to the Packers' three of eleven.

Green Bay finished the season winless in their division at 0-6 and with a 5-11 overall record. Meanwhile, Minnesota secured second place in the division with their 12-4 record.

Packers head coach Clint Conner will now look toward the offseason after a challenging year that culminated in the team's early playoff exit. The Packers demonstrated resilience despite their losing record, highlighted by some standout performances on both sides of the ball.
