The New York Giants secured a convincing 33-10 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 of the 2047 regular season at MetLife Stadium. With the win, the Giants improve to 8-2 overall and maintain their undefeated 4-0 division record under head coach Nigel Larson.
New York established control early, opening the scoring with a 52-yard field goal by David Phipps less than ten minutes into the first quarter. The Giants then extended their lead when Jeffery Lee connected with Jose Dodds on a seven-yard touchdown pass, despite a holding penalty on Brad Kilgore, putting the home side up 10-0.
Dallas responded with a long 49-yard touchdown pass from Earl Rivers to Richard Brown, narrowing the gap to 10-7. However, New York answered back quickly as Charles Mannion ran in a one-yard touchdown to end the opening quarter, regaining a 17-7 lead.
In the second quarter, the Giants added another field goal from Phipps, this time from 53 yards out, increasing their advantage to 20-7. The Cowboys kept pressure on with a 30-yard field goal by Randall Lee, cutting the deficit to 20-10.
Late in the second quarter, Lee threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dodds, his second touchdown reception of the game, to extend New York's lead to 27-10 going into halftime. The Giants' offense was balanced, with quarterback Jeffery Lee finishing with 253 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, while Dodds contributed 197 receiving yards and two rushing touchdowns.
The Giants' defense played a pivotal role, forcing turnovers at critical moments. Joe Covington intercepted a pass early in the first quarter, and William Gregory added another pick in the third quarter, contributing to Dallas’ offensive struggles. Defensively, the Giants forced two fumbles and recovered one, key to stifling the Cowboys’ offense.
In the third quarter, David Phipps added a 21-yard field goal to push the lead to 30-10. Phipps was perfect on his field goal attempts, converting all four tries during the game.
The Cowboys, now 3-7 under coach John Wright, managed only 130 passing yards and one touchdown on offense, hindered by two interceptions. Their leading receiver, Richard Brown, accounted for 106 yards and a rushing touchdown.
New York’s balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense cemented their winning streak at five games, keeping them atop the division standings. Penalties were relatively low for both teams, with the Giants committing three infractions for 20 yards and the Cowboys three for 25 yards.
The Giants will look to maintain their momentum as they approach the final third of the regular season, holding a significant lead at the top of the division.
