The New York Giants secured a 24-10 victory over the Washington Redskins at home on October 13, improving their record to 4-2 and maintaining first place in the division. Giants head coach Nigel Larson's team dominated both offensively and defensively throughout the game.

The Giants opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 35-yard field goal by David Phipps at 9:51, followed by another successful 48-yard field goal by Phipps just before halftime. The Redskins struggled to capitalize on opportunities early, missing two long field goal attempts in the first quarter – one from 58 yards and another from 61 yards.

Midway through the second quarter, the Giants extended their lead with a touchdown pass from quarterback Jeffery Lee to tight end Jose Dodds, who also contributed a rushing touchdown later in the game. Following the touchdown, Phipps converted the extra point to make the score 13-0. Phipps added a 34-yard field goal with under two minutes remaining in the half to give the Giants a 16-0 advantage heading into the break.

Jeffery Lee completed 22 of 33 passes for 162 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Jose Dodds was a key contributor, hauling in 117 receiving yards and forcing a fumble. Running back Charles Mannion contributed 139 rushing yards and an additional 12 receiving yards.

The Redskins managed to put points on the board in the third quarter with a 28-yard field goal by Roosevelt Welch, narrowing the gap to 16-3. However, the Giants responded quickly. Phipps added a 36-yard field goal with just under two minutes left in the third quarter. The Giants defense then forced a safety late in the third quarter when defensive end Andrew Larsen sacked Redskins quarterback Jackie White in the end zone, bringing the score to 21-3.

In the fourth quarter, Phipps capped the scoring with a 19-yard field goal, finalizing the score at 24-10. The Giants defense was notably effective, recording five sacks including two by defensive tackle Fred Davis, one interception, and forcing multiple turnovers. The defense's pressure played a significant role in limiting the Redskins’ offense.

For the Redskins, quarterback Jackie White passed for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Wide receiver Jose Shugart accounted for 30 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown. Despite their efforts, the Redskins were unable to sustain drives, with both teams failing to convert any third downs.

The win keeps the Giants at the top of their division with a 2-0 record in division games, while the Redskins fall to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the division. Both teams have yet to clinch a playoff spot after six weeks. Penalties affected both squads, with the Giants assessed eight for 66 yards and the Redskins six for 53 yards.

The Giants will aim to build on this momentum in upcoming games to solidify their position for postseason contention.
