The New York Giants secured a 30-17 road victory over the Washington Redskins on Monday, extending their winning streak to one and holding firm atop the division standings at 3-1. Under Head Coach Nigel Larson, the Giants leveraged a strong rushing attack and efficient kicking to overcome a competitive Redskins team.

The Giants struck early, with Giovanni Kennedy scoring on a one-yard run less than two minutes into the game. David Phipps added the extra point, giving the visitors a 7-0 lead. The Redskins answered quickly as Jackie White connected with James Rhodes for a five-yard touchdown pass. Roosevelt Welch's extra point tied the game at 7.

Ny Giants regained the lead with a 49-yard field goal by Phipps as the first quarter closed, making it 10-7. The Giants’ rushing game then took over in the second quarter, with Charles Mannion breaking a 52-yard run for a touchdown, followed shortly by a 69-yard touchdown catch from Jeffery Lee to Thomas Phipps. Phipps successfully converted both extra points, pushing the Giants ahead 24-7.

Washington struggled to respond offensively as Lee intercepted a pass and New York’s defense forced key turnovers, including two forced fumbles recovered by the Giants. Derrick Rodriguez contributed with consistent punts for the Redskins but was unable to flip the momentum.

In the third quarter, Phipps added two field goals from 24 and 50 yards, extending the Giants’ lead to 30-7. The Redskins managed to score a late rushing touchdown by James Rhodes, but it was insufficient to close the gap. The Giants’ defense maintained pressure throughout, accumulating four sacks and limiting Washington’s ground game to 51 yards on 22 carries.

Statistically, Giants quarterback Jeffery Lee completed 23 of 36 passes for 254 yards and one touchdown, with no interceptions. Mannion was key on the ground, rushing for 155 yards and adding 53 receiving yards and a touchdown. Thomas Phipps contributed 82 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown, while Giovanni Kennedy added 41 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. On defense, New York recorded four sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception.

The Redskins quarterback Jackie White completed 18 of 24 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted once and lost a critical fumble. James Rhodes led Washington with 93 receiving yards and two rushing touchdowns.

The win improves the Giants’ record to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in division play, while the Redskins fall to 3-1 and 1-1 in the division, dropping to second place. Both teams are still early in the season, but the victory solidifies the Giants’ position atop their division.

Penalties were low on both sides, with the Redskins committing two for five yards and the Giants two for 15 yards. Third-down conversions were not recorded for either team in this game.

The Giants will look to build on this road win as they continue their regular season campaign. The Redskins will seek to bounce back after their first loss of the year. Both teams remain in playoff contention as the season progresses.
