Allocation Draft Discussion

A couple of things about the draft so far...

Had I kept the 2nd overall pick either Cleveland or the Giants would have a different player. Obryan, who went #2 to Tampa was #3 on my draft board. I am unsure which of the 2 I would have taken. Getting a highly rated/low volatility DB was a priority but it would have been hard for me to pass up on a 2nd year RB with 0 volatility. It's a moot point.

Sitting here waiting on my turn, I was stunned when this guy went right before me. https://nfl.myfootballnow.com/player/3118I'm curious as to how he was even on anyone's list to begin with. For his sake I hope it was just a fat thumb hitting the wrong player on a phone/small tablet.

I felt like taking a DB at 18 would be a slight reach especially when 2 LB I like real well were available. Mark Schwartz was my other choice, who ended up in New England.

Here is my thoughts .... After trading up to #2 I was torn between RB and LDE but being true Bucs & Tony Dungy fan I reached a little to pick the LDE from FSU over RB who is next Emmitt Smith of the league.

I also was sitting pretty with the MLB or DT as my pick at #20 but when I had chance to pick 2nd and 4th round pick it was too good to pass as I have already given up too much to move up in the draft.

That high up in the draft idk if anyone is a reach, it's more a matter of who you want to build your team around. The 3 I had at the top of my list were simply 3 of the highest rated/lowest volatility guys at positions I value. You got your Warren Sapp.

Ugh, I hate just typing that name. There aren't very many Raiders I didn't like but Warren Sapp is at the top of that list. I hated him in Tampa and just the sight of him in silver and black made me sick. I never gave him a chance, but even if I had he never did much as a Raider besides collect checks. Rest assured I will not be renaming any of my players him.

Ha ha how many people's # choice goes right before you pick? :(
That said I had 2 RBs top of my list and got my #2 , so I'm happy :)

And with the 27th pick overall, the New York select..... Curtis Martin out of Maryland(?) I wish we could change colleges as well

I had the LDE as my #1. After that I was torn between DB and WR. So many choices so little picks.

Interested to see if the Cardinals next pick is a human tackling dummy or not, but the guy I just took, I'm leaning toward making him a RB. At 6'5" 268 he might be too big but he has max speed/strength and should be close to max in everything that counts.

He sounds like a Todd Christensen to me, down to the ability to long snap and play RB/TE but I'm tempted to make this beast my Bo Jackson. Probably depends on how the rest of the draft shakes out.

Just remember max speed at 268 is not anything close to max speed at 215. However, I don't think I'd want to tackle him.

Thanks, I would have eventually got my mind to realize that but I've been up 24 hours. That explains how everything can be max but his TE rating is about 10 points higher than RB. That being said, I'm saddled with a run focused offensive system so I will still probably experiment with him at RB during preseason. I like big plays as much as the next guy but I also like moving the chains.

With this information, he will be Todd Christensen and it won't be a mismatch since he was a real life RB in college and his early NFL days.
