GG Jets, I'm real glad we avoided OT as you were giving me fits on both sides of the ball. Covey is a **** of a DB, Branch put up some numbers on him but he also dropped 2 passes in this game to match the 2 he had all season and only caught 8 of 14 passes. Best of luck in the offseason.

My reward for winning is yet another playoff game in Cleveland for the 3rd season in a row. Maybe 3rd time is the charm?

That would have been a different game if we didn’t benefit immensely from the overuse. We always seem to get lucky as **** against KC. You guys were taking it to us.

Good game San Fran. I was surprised we pulled that one out.

....... then any excitement over winning that playoff game became grim when I noticed that win earned us a date with Grandad's Falcons.

Wow... cant believe we may have 3rd Super Bowl with same team.... plus we have 3 of the same 4 team in Conference final...

Bears you are the underdog but luck could be on your side.... as I am impressed how you cleaned up your team this offseason and still managed to put great team.

Raiders - You are the person who I made my first trade with so will always wish you success.

Browns - You are the champion going for one more..... so good luck

Grandad - You are my division mate, leader and respected person... so I will always root for NFC South bring the trophy to our division.....as much as I want Bucs to do that ... if I am not in the playoffs will always cheer for my Division.

Real GG Crazy, your Panthers took it to us. I was really frustrated by the def play overuse, I mustve screwed something up between rules & general defensive game plan. I really thought it was going to cost us the game, Ive had bad luck & unusual things happen in the playoffs in this league. The picks in the 4th qtr saved our bacon. Congrats on a great season, you will surely be in the hunt again next season, with an even stronger team. cheers! gdb

I accidentally posted my congrats in the Regular Season Thread. It was a GG. I don't quite get Fortner. He's been a producing 2:1 TD:INT ratio since I brought him in. I guess it's better than what I had before, though.

Had to remind myself about the **** 3WR formations "auto-ing" the Nickel, which is what causes a lot of the defensive play overuse problem. Ive got another playoff game coming up where Ive taken the Nickel plays out all together, I was running 3 of them and if there is one that has a lot more familiarity, it gets called the most.

Yeah Crazy, Fortner was a "roller coaster" when I had him, which is why I didnt renew his contract. He can be very good, but also take a swan dive right into the can. QB is the one position where even a 90 rater with great passing atts can blow a game and throw picks, just depends on the rolls and the differential for the play in the version code. The QB performance is dependent on a lot of other position matchups and "rolls".

Attention all! lol.... Please spread the word on this as it will go a long ways to preventing the play overuse problem and penalty, which as Mac stated, cost KC a chance to win. As is the case with several other game issues, JDB went "overkill" as a result of the complaints about limited play use, instead of getting a good balance or requiring a minimum # of plays to be used (like the roster requirements), we have the play overuse penalty and the very irritating repeat messages, lol.

The problem can be identified by looking at the play log from the game. What defensive play(s) got overused? .... only one..... Nickel Norm Dbl LB Blitz, it got called 42 TIMES!!!!. WHY? I had the same thing happen to me in my playoff game in Paydirt yesterday, same play, was called 22 times, and almost cost my team the game.
That play is probably the most common of defensive plays that get the overuse penalty. I dont know how many Nickel defenses that KC had active, hopefully RBParish will post in this thread about it, and I know he did not intentionally set his defense gameplan to overuse the Nickel Dbl LB Blitz that many times.

The cause of the overuse is the "auto" call by the AI coach. Mac uses mostly 3WR formation plays (1-1-3 & 2rb-3wr), which cause the Nickel to be automatically called by the AI coach. If you only have 2 or 3 Nickel defenses, and maybe it doesnt matter how may Nickel def plays you have active, the AI coach will call the one that your team has used the most or has the most familiarity with. Same thing happened in the second Super Bowl with Mac's Browns, Nickel defense overuse. It did not happen in the 3rd Super Bowl thanks to rules kicking in and preventing the Nickel being called every time vs the 3 WR formations. And it wont happen again, I can guarantee that, lol.
There are a couple of ways you can prevent this from happening to you. 1. Dont use any Nickel defenses, take them out of your active play list. 2. Use a rule for the 1-1-3 and 2-3 that spreads out the calls amongst your best defensive plays, including the Nickel. Set the rule up so you have several defenses that have full or equal red bars. If anyone knows another method, please post it, its no fun to have a game ruined by the AI auto-calls and over-use penalty. cheers! gdb

Ha ha. You think I intentionally run those plays to exploit a glitch or gain an unfair advantage? I rather you just say good game.

I think it's something in the KC defensive playbook. Anyone else besides me remember how the Chiefs exited the playoffs the previous 2 years?

2001: https://nfl.myfootballnow.com/box/661

2002: https://nfl.myfootballnow.com/box/993

In 2001 I hit several hot reads as RB Marvin Hubbard had 296 receiving yards. In 2002 Cliff Branch often ran free and clear.

I have been running the same offense here forever and wouldn't know how to exploit code unless someone showed me how. I can't explain the Super Bowls though.
