Guys.... i know i will be seen as the Pro Trade so let me be clear... i am 1000% ok for trade to be reviewed to make sure its not rip off but i am not ok with the concept of fair trade....as any sports which is competitive is played with integrity not fairness.......I simply feel lately trade discussions have gone out of hand to the point i see now a days most owners are scared to trade....

Understand Roster management is just a part of the game but very important part. Every one has their style of playing and managing their teams.

I trade highest in any league ...but only made playoff 1st time in 8 years and have not one any Super Bowl yet... so anyone who claims that trade give you advantage.... well think again... its just a tool to manage salary cap while putting best team on the field.

Some build through draft, Some build through high prized FA, some go route of cheap one year rentals, some build it through trades..... some combination of all.

Please have review but urge all to back off a little as long as trade is within limits of MFN, League rules and not rip off. No trade no matter what method you follow will ever be 100% balanced..... so let's just back off this fairness thing and enjoy the game as long as the trades are done with integrity and they are not ripoff.

===== Just my views to keep game competitive and fun.

Just to give you all idea why some trades you may feel are not so balanced but works for the team involved.

I just made trade with Ritzi (you all know he knows the games and is tough negotiatior)

[/[i]Actually this trade is done for totally different reason

I wanted to get Bobby Galloway from grey but i know it will be tough negotiation and when i went to sleep last night ( as i am in Asia) i left offer open for Bhass who accepted the trade.... so i had two 3rd and also last pick in 2nd....

I was again in salary cap ****... and any trade which is not below 1M in salary would take away my ability to resign my best DE who is in last year of the contract

So this trade was either Grammer or Galloway as both were below 1M but i knew neither would be easy... Galloway is young but Gammer had high value... :)

So that is the reason behind the trade... it was more than player i wanted to not be in situation where i loose my star DE as i cant resign himi]

So you see Bucs need to get rid of 3rd pick in hurry else i will be nightmare to manage the cap and it may even cost me my star DE who i will not be able to resign (if anyone don't trust this please go to Die-Hard league where i could not sign my #1 QB R.Pugh and lost him)

This trade gives me veteran who will help me for 2 years ...but also most importantly give me cap to sign my DE and give me cap flexibility of 2M to add or deal in season if there is any injury.

So trades are done with lots of thought but most people done have this details hence sharing.

===== just to provide glimpse on how and why some trade don't look good on paper but it really works

I can appreciate everyone’s opinion on trades. In MFN I have probably taken over more bad teams than anyone history, so I have seen and been through many scenarios. There are 2 discussions that have been going on here regarding fairness. There is the intent discussion and the numbers discussion. In a social game especially in a game where an owner is battling 3 other teams competing for a playoff spot in the division and eventually 16 teams for a wild card within the conference, intent is the most irrelevant of the two. Why a team is doing a trade only is an issue if the trade is deemed unfair initially by the numbers. The defense of intent is a question that can only be answered by the owners that are involved in the trade, not by my experience or anyone else. Yes this is a free game and yes this is a competitive league, and yes every trade shifts the balance in the league in a different direction regardless of an owners intent.

Ok, this is starting to get a little out of hand, and I'm going to close this thread in an effort to knock this on the head.

This league has become one of the more popular leagues in MFN, lets keep it this way :)

It's quite clear .....

Everyone who is in this league owns it, it's OUR league and to keep it fun and honest want people to be respectful.
We've seen other leagues where name calling etc has gotton out of hand, and then people leave. Whilst I do want to encourage healthy rivalry can we please keep it clean.

Trades

Keep it fair.

I Have now turned off the trade meter which means any trade can now go through. The reason for this is because sometimes one team in a trade values a player or picks differently to another, player weights can also skew the meter . In short it makes trading easier.
....................................................................................I can reverse a trade trade though.

If anyone has any concerns about a trade please let me know.

Trading with new players to the game, we all made mistakes when we first started , but we don't want to See noobies having the **** taken out of them, specifically trading older players for high draft picks, yes the broken trade meter says it's fair but unless you're making a SB push this type of trade will be scrutinised.

After a lot of thought I'm bringing in a new ruling....

- No team can carry more than 3 x 1st round picks.
(However as I know a few like to trade am leaving the other rounds limitless.)

My reasoning for this rule is that many people look forward to drafting and if they've had a rough season a high(ish) 1st round pick can go someway to help improve your team, there is noting to stop you trading your rookie #1 pick, so long as you don't go over the 3 x 1st round picks in the same year.
Other reasons are it also helps keep parity within the league and encourages teams to value their picks more and be more cautious with trading. Too many times I've seen owners use up all their valuable draft picks in rebuilds only to then abandon their team and leave it in a mess, this makes teams look unattractive to would be new owners.
This will come into affect on the 2007 draft.

Tanking
I really hope that no one goes 0 - 16 and I think that if anyone does then as a league we'll have to look as to why.
I was in the 7 5 league which is really well run with all the owners contributing and one of the features there is to be active, both in your own team and within the community. If anyone were to tank in there, they would be booted subject to a league discussion.
