Chucky is Back

I kind of wish he went back to Tampa, as this feels more like a PR move than a football move. I liked Gruden the first time in Oakland but he made several crucial mistakes in the tuck rule game before Woodson made Brady fumble. His SB win was against Oakland and his former OC Bill Callahan, who didn't change the audibles and 2 HOFers think Callahan threw the game.

Following the Pirate Bowl win, Chucky was a losing coach before jumping into the broadcast booth. Now 9 years later, Gruden is supposed to ride into Oakland on a white horse and magically bring Lombardi trophies? I certainly hope so but I'm not holding my breath.

He brings a strong advantage though, the whole time has been spent detailed analyzing every player and coach in the league and getting familiar with all of them. This plays way into his hands especially in FA.

Pressure is on Chucky

Chucky has 100 million reasons to NOT feel any pressure. He has a 10 year contract, so he has job security for awhile. Going to a new city, there won't be pressure to win until year 3 or so in Vegas, whenever the "newness" of having a team wears off.

I think Gruden is overrated as a coach. He talked a good game on ESPN, and talked a good game in Oakland/Tampa, but he's only won 1 SB, and if they played anyone other than Oakland, he wouldn't even have that.

I hope I'm wrong and sometime in the future, someone will bring this up and tell me what a dummy I was because that means the Raiders won their 4th SB.

I'm already picking Oakland to win their division next season and I almost never make predictions like that till after the draft. I could easily see Gruden winning the SB his first year.

You have way more faith in him than I do.

Im with raidergreg69 on this one. I think letting go a coach that turned your franchise around was premature as well. But were gonna see what Chucky can do after the big layoff.
