In another league I played a team that ran (play action bombs) and (Weak I big wr post) plays a lot. I thought my D would be using 4/3 or similar plays, instead it kept running Goal line D plays? I have no rule set in that league. Should these Goal line plays be triggering? What am I missing? Thanks-

Without knowing the personnel I would guess it has to do with 2/3 TE and 2/3 RB triggering your GL defense?
Weak i big is 2 te set Play action has 2 fb 1rb Thought goaline is used for 3te?? What plays counter those formations?
You need a rule to counter this.
Personally, I keep two GL defenses in my playbook - GL Attack 3 and 3 Deep Zone (the only Cover 5 GL set).
I then write a rule that calls the Attack 3 against any set that a team runs exclusively out of and the 3 Deep Zone against any set that a team runs and passes out of or just passes out of (c.f. don't allow your opponent to key lock you).
For teams that exclusively pass out of a set, I sometimes recommend calling a Normal Defensive Backfield or even a Nickle Backfield against those sets. Since you're going to be key locking anyway.
Finally, don't forget to sub your FS in for your MLB and your MLB in for the DE3 in the GL overrides. You want both your safeties on the field for the Zone GL play.
Thanks, was hoping to hear from you. I'll work on those rules, yet I'm a bit disturbed on why normal or nickle wasn't called at all? The team i played ran these plays at least 7x a piece and not once, did my d change to compensate. Should it have if i had the d personnel to counter?
