With all due respect to RaiderGreg who is as good at this game as anyone (and certainly better than I)..

1) Your league is pretty much full so I don't understand the argument..

2) Are you suggesting that your QB, who is not exactly super-elite, had more realistic stats in the last 4.5 season than the 4.6 season?

3) Do you think any player should be able to effortlessly dominate the game like some have?

I would say that the new version has accomplished some good things, silly speed players are far less effective, pass rushing is far more realistic and we are not seeing some of the special teams things so much. These things should help competitive balance. We are not quite up to 2022 standards on the passing game so that probably needs some work although it seems like some are finding ways around some of that. I would say the sky is not falling but that's just me. It would be better if we had some discussion and feedback from management... :)

1) You can't use 1 full league as a basis for your argument everything is fine. It used to be a piece of cake to stay full as we used to get more "applicants" than openings, allowing me to be choosy. The last calendar year has seen more openings in USFL than ever before and sometimes it takes awhile before anyone shows interest. If you look across the entirety of MFN, the overall player base is shrinking, Cjfred68 has good info about the exact numbers.

2) My QB isn't super elite? If you were in USFL you wouldn't say that. He was the best QB in the league the last season of 4.5 (set a 24 year league record with 64 TD passes) and in the first year of 4.6 he led his team to a league championship. If that's not super elite, I don't know what is.

That's besides the point as yes, I think 4.5 stats are closer to reality than 4.6. Look at the post season stats I posted for all the USFL QBs in 4.6, they all sucked.

3) No of course not. In fact, Seth and others think 4.6 makes dominating owners even more dominant than before. I don't understand how you can read my post and reach a conclusion I want people to dominate.

4.6 is responsible for some people moving on from MFN. However, there was a mass exodus in 4.5 prior to the switch (some of whom have since returned). Leagues and numbers have been dwindling for a long, long time.

I would expect it to get worse before it gets better. If JDB has given up, he should do the decent thing and let us know. If he's trying to solve the passing issues in 4.6 then it would be good to have some sort of ideal timeline as to when any patch/fix is likely to be introduced.

When I saw you had responded, I prepared myself to be mad lol, figuring you'd still be pushing the 4.6 is good narrative. Glad I was wrong.

I'm afraid it's never going to get better, as the game engine is just part of the problem with MFN. It seems that our new draft classes are watered down and some of my recent allocation drafts have not had enough decent K or QB for everyone. The conspiracy theorist in me has me thinking JDB is tanking MFN on purpose so we'll all eventually get frustrated and quit rather than just quit now and rug pull everyone left.

I'm with you thinking it would be nice to get a timeline out of JDB but I'm not holding my breath.

I've been super busy. I'm happy to see all the planned changes being made now that I've had time to read through the forums again. /sarcasmfont/

I was here several years ago and I remember when we had a major change from mobile QBs absolutely wrecking the league to where a good QB could put up some unreal numbers. So I know he’s been trying to balance the passing game for a while and I know we appreciate his effort.

I’ve only been back for about a week but the passing game busted. It looks like we are simulating the 1930s. I love this game but I guarantee you that people are leaving.

I msg'd JDB a couple of months ago, and suggested that he consider either partnering or selling the game to an online game company, which he was open to. I knew a person who was developing a very entertaining game for the phone, called "Dirty Bird". It flew back and forth crapping on cars, objects, and people (celebs & politicians). He got to a point where the programming became so difficult that he burned out and just dropped it, and just let it go. So, have seen it before, when someone just gets to the point where they dont even want to look at it anymore. JDB was very receptive to the idea, so if you can locate a company that might be interested, would be worth an email or two.

Passing game is weird for sure. But solvable. I put up 4000+ yards passing on all my teams. I typically throw for 30+ TD's too.

But how solvable ? By having 0 long pass and not much medium ?

It may works, some owners are making it work, but then after the "broken passing game" stuff related to the 0.4.6, let's talk about what is for me a thing that is very annoying with this engine, the fact that there is not much "game identity" that can win the game.

In my league in 0.4.5, I was using a balanced offense that allowed me to go in play off 99% of time, to play 4 Super Bowls, an other team was a full pass offense and was a big team going in play off, and an other one the opposite, running a lot and using formations with 1 or 0 wr and still making play off.

With the 0.4.6, if you want to win you have not many way to do it, you can't build your team as you want if you want to win, it's something that I hate, I can't make my team with it's own identity and specifities because otherwise I'm not competitive... And it sucks...

So obviously even in 0.4.5 there were game identities working better and it needed more balance, but with the 0.4.6 we have made like 10 steps in the wrong direction as now the variety of scheme working has decreased.

Good point in the previous post, and one that Ive been addressing for quite some time, which is the lack of game variability based on player rating, play selection, and gameplan. In order to compete for the LC, you are limited to a narrow window of plays, especially for the passing game. When you scout owners & teams that are perennial playoff contenders you can see the commonality, including roster makeup. To get variability, where, for example, one team is more capable using zone coverage vs 1 deep, 2 deep, and man coverage, will take a major revamp of the game version, program and code. For one person (JDB), it will take a lot of programming hours without knowing for sure whether or not your coding has produced the results you're looking for. Im not a programmer/coder, so I dont know much about it other than seeing what a friend went through coding a game for android, and he just plain burned out on a very entertaining game that would have been a success if he had been able to complete it. It got to the point where it literally made him sick when he would work on it. I cant speak for where JDB is at, but I know his time to work on MFN is limited and the game is now at a point where it needs a company that has established itself in online gaming with the experience and programmers who can significantly improve the game.

Folks. Nothing like checking in to see folks bitching.
If one does not provide a possible solution, they are only complaining.

I'm just going to say that JDB is attentative and aware. Having worked as a CFO/CMO and deeply involved in game development from an ownership perspective for a global online game in my past (digital addiction/Nioga: Sanctum and ChronX. We created the first MMOCCGs in 1997)... Having innovated the sales of virtual commodities in 1998 (See New York Times https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes.com/library/tech/98/07/circuits/game-theory/16game.html and also WIRED magazine articles) and play for pay (play to earn) gaming concepts in the mid oughts -
BE PATIENT.

We were a 6 man crew in our heyday, and currently run a 3 man crew as we prep for Sanctum 2.0. It's important to admit - regardless of your intentions - most of you have absolutely no idea what it takes to even keep a global server running, much less the amount of hours required behind the scene. Yet you demand what are in reality - a speed of correction unattainable even by the megacorperations with legions of developers and PR staff, See every single console game released bug laden and not ready for play - complete with suckering you into buying DLC so you can continue to compete bug free.

I do see unannounced improvements in the game - little tweaks, but I'm not focused on maintianing my style of play and winning (tho, by golly like a few others, I certainly win becuase I adapt). I limit my expectations realizing they are just that. My expectations are unrelated to the developers intentions or direction. I play, that my part as a participant here.

I've never had to wait longer than 12 hours for a response from ownership. My needs as an administrator and player are addressed quickly - with punctuality and courtesy.
In other words, JDB runs a **** good business.

I notice the little things instead of focusing on what are simply the "butterfly effects" of tweaking a line of code. I am willing to change how I play and plan because that's how games work - any game - with any update. I stay because I get the customer service and cordiality from JDB that I expect in a professional, consumer based interaction.

No one complains about the customer service, and every new update results in an inflammation of negativity by those that are looking only at the negative.
This is normal in any game/platform.
Get over it.

It's quite clear to me that all of the deriders and detrimentals have absolutely no knowledge of the back ground work required simply to handle a communities daily request for league maintenence. There's plenty of people here that have hours to run numbers and find flaws, but have zero time to submit a detailed solution for the issues they magnify. More so, they are unwilling to adapt to whatever corrections (and the magnifications of unknown game-relative interactions) in their demand to be able to continue as they have - dormant, rote, and defiant to adapt.

I guess, I just want to say I am really appreciative of what ownership is doing with MFN. I know every fix creates a dozen new problems - especially when dealing with near infinite interactions betweenlines of code doing exactly what they were written for. It's always the deepest ******* rabbit hole to make any change to a holistic environment, as one change to one item effects so many others. It's kinda like putting out a gasoline fire in a dry hay feild. Stomp here, and the sparks go out and light a new fires to stomp on.

MFN could have 100 coders and still run into the rabbit hole - the butterfly effect of making the smallest change to the most finite detail of a line code.

The lack of solutions, the lack of understanding of the task itself, the short sighted desire to hold onto the past in outright defiance of making simple changes, is astounding and lethal to creating a consumer chain of purchase.

To bring it back to the front - all I see are folks who think they know everything, are offering nothing, yet seem completely dedicated to spending considerable amounts of time highlighting problems without offering solutions (your actual time towards improvement).
Complaining never fixed anything, right?

Now, if you really want more than 1 person working on this game, drop 100$ of your tax return on tokens and let the world work.
Put up or shut up.

PS: your purchase does not provide entitlement of dictation. So, just don't use that as your weapon of counter-point.

Thanks for the eyes - still loving MFN! Not editing sopardon the grammar errors and dont be afraid to ask for clarity :)
