I have asked JDB to make credits transferable between owners. My idea was to create leagues with buy ins for ownership where the credits are awarded to the Champion.

He simply answered that transferring credits currently isnt an option.

Others have suggested using PayPal to create the same system but then the revenue isnt in game for JDB to collect.

So again, make transferring credits between owners an option and we can have pay leagues with credit prizes or even have owners gamble on the outcome of games.

Let's say it cost 10 credits to join a prize league...that's 320 credits

Champion 100 credits
Conference Champion 50 (100)
Divison winner 10 (80)
Wildcard 5.(20)

That's 300 credits in pay outs with the league admin earning 20 credits to run the league and make all customizarions every season.

There's one important caveat to that idea CJ - if credits can be transferred between accounts in any way at all they can never be refunded or otherwise converted into cash. There's a ton of money laundering laws it'd run foul of. There are some legal problems with contests for virtual cash where there's a stake involved even without withdrawal opportunities, and the need for multi-account cheat-proofing would be required. You'd also need an official (ie part of the MFN staff) to oversee the contest from an impartial standpoint...

As cool an idea as it might seem at first glance, you can probably file the fallout from it as "another reason we can't have nice things."

An official pay-to-enter league with no trading permitted, no rules regarding exploitative play and a trophy rather than credits as the prize might work, but even then the amount of griping it would generate would be excessive.

Show me another NFL simulator that is remotely as good as this and I'll agree.

I've searched wide and far and this is the only game that has given me the satisfaction of actually feeling like I'm an owner of a team and can control everything with my team.

Plenty of people have suggested additions and improvements and honestly, the biggest issue is that it's a one man project and that he can't possibly and realistically run this game like it deserves.

Getting more revenue would make it easier for him to either do this full time or hire some programmers to help with the coding and maintenance.

Alternatively; we'll continue to be able to enjoy this very good game completely free of charge. JDB is the hero we have, but probably doesn't deserve.

I agree with what you're saying, but it doesn't change my point. There are some serious flaws that need to be addressed before you can count on attracting and retaining audience.

Completely agree. One of my biggest beefs with this game is the rather limited playbooks.

I've given several suggestions to how we could work with player-created plays and I really believe that could make this game feel way more complete.

I was mostly being facetious, but a play editor is one of the things I would pay extra for.

IoT doesn't really want to face a bunch left, PA, boot right, shallow cross, FL go tho ... again.

The things I would do to you with a defensive play editor ...

It would be war. It would be FBPro 98 all over again.

IoT: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU CREATED A SHOVEL PASS BY PITCHING THE BALL AS A RUN THAT AVERAGES 8 YARDS PER AT 95% COMPLETION?!?"

You would win 35-12, but I would record 24 sacks.

QB stat line: 35/40 450 5 0 ... 24 sacks -240 yards. It may have already happened that way once.

Back to the main point of the thread... would something like a Patreon account work? Then it could be completely voluntary - no idea of financial implications but presumably you can have a Patreon account without having to do the subscriber bonus content thing (you'd know about this stuff Col?), just a portal for those who can afford it to make a regular monthly sub.

I'm very open to making a contribution for a game that basically provide free quality entertainment.

I think a combination of supported ads (no popups) and keep it free to play.

The current credit system could use some tweaking: keeping what is currently available, but maybe purchasing new playbooks without changing coaches. I definitely don't want to see another micro-transaction nightmare.

A pro league option could be interesting, a sort of pay-to-play with rewards.

I will continue to support MFN in any case.

I like the Patreon idea, but what do you provide for extra content?
