Release bad contracts

I am new and just played solo if I remember correctly a few years ago. I recently joined a league and missed the fact that I have 2 QB's making a ton of money on 4 year deals. This is killing my interest in my team as I don't have money to resign other players. I don't want to abandon the team but I feel my enjoyment in the game will rise tremendously if I do, assuming I can pick up another. Anyway I think there should be some measures in place to help with these issues. Maybe you should be able to drop a player on taking over etc.

There's actually a solution to this.

League admins have the ability to kill dead cap, so if you recently took over a team, you could talk to the league admin about taking off some/all of your inherited dead cap, including from players on overpriced contracts. You should determine what you want to do, have a conversation with the league admin about what you plan to do and how much dead cap he's willing to eliminate, and then execute the plan as agreed.

Generally speaking, league admins prefer to keep active owners rather than replacing them or having bot teams, so they are motivated to make reasonable concessions to keep owners.

Not exactly. The league administrator can PM JDB and ask him to fix the cap issue, we can't do it directly that I'm aware of.
